STARVED FOR SURFFL MORRIS / FMORRIS@STARBULLETIN.COM
With a new south swell expected to arrive along Oahu's south shore, a group of federal workers and surfers on their lunch break checked the surf at Kewalo Basin yesterday. They were disappointed to see that the surf was inconsistent and considerably smaller than forecast. They hoped that today would be better.

HEAVENLY SIGHT
JAMM AQUINO / JAQUINO@STARBULLETIN.COM
Hawaii got a front-row seat for a total lunar eclipse Monday night. This composite photograph shows the moon as it slowly became completely shadowed by the earth and turned a deep red color because of the way light is refracted by the earth's atmosphere. The eclipse reached totality about 11:52 p.m. Monday and the moon remained in the red for more than an hour.
