2 wines produced by isle firm win in California competition

Two Guenoc wines, produced by kamaaina-owned Langtry Estate & Vineyards, received top awards in the 2007 California State Fair Commercial Wine Competition. The 2005 Guenoc Lake County Petite Sirah was selected as the best Petite Sirah produced in California. The 2006 Guenoc Lake County Sauvignon Blanc was not only named as top Sauvignon Blanc in Lake County, but also for Sonoma and Mendocino counties. Guenoc Winery was founded in 1963. Andy Bumatai made a surprise visit to the Kamehameha Lions Club Foundation's "Laughs for Lions" night of comedy benefit Saturday at Mamiya Theatre. Andy led off the show, bumping Star-Bulletin humor columnist Charley Memminger from the opening slot. Charley took the stage next and admitted to the sold-out crowd that he doesn't do much stand-up comedy, but he must be doing OK since Andy Bumatai is now opening for him. Ouch!
