Red Cross names Shannon top volunteer
was named American Red Cross Volunteer of the Year for Oahu for increasing the number of Red Cross Youth Clubs to 18 from three in local high schools. Club members participate in service projects for their schools, communities and the world, including mentoring youth in lifesaving skills and disaster preparedness, teaching children how to swim and sending care packages to troops.
The Coral Reef Outreach Network announced the following nominees for its third annual Hawaii's Living Reef Awards, which honors work to protect the ecosystem.
