Symposium will address similarities of 3 faiths
Members of the All Believers Network have explored some major similarities between Christian, Muslim, Jewish and other religious beliefs, and they want to share their insight Sept. 3 at an all-day symposium.
Adherents of 13 religions and spiritual traditions will speak at the event from 8:30 a.m. to 6 p.m. on Labor Day at the University of Hawaii Art Building auditorium.
"Celebrating Our Spiritual Similarities, Savoring Our Ritual Differences" is the theme of the symposium, which will be co-sponsored by the University of Hawaii Religion Department. Other supporting groups are the Interfaith Alliance of Hawaii, the Open Table, the Forgiveness Project, Hawaii Conference of Religions for Peace, and Tendai Institute of Hawaii. The program was developed by the All Believers group, which holds a monthly forum for people of differing religious traditions to share their beliefs. Information is available at www.allbelievers.net.
The event is open to the public. To register, call Harendra Panalal, 538-6202. The suggested donation of $25 will include a vegetarian lunch. Scholarships are available for students and others.
