Kaui new Kapaa football coach
Steve Kaui is the new head football coach at Kapaa High School, replacing Sia Salausa, who held the position the past two years. Kaui, 47, was defensive coordinator the last three years and on the Warriors staff since 2001.
Kapaa opens play Saturday, hosting Hawaii Preparatory Academy.
Kaui hopes to improve on the Warriors' record of 1-7 (0-6 Kauai Interscholastic Federation) last season.
"Our goal is to just play better quality football, be consistent, execute better and minimize mistakes and try to make a run at the KIF," Kaui said. "It's not about me, it's about the Warriors."
