Shreds have shape in an exhibit at Nuuanu Gallery at Marks Garage
ART collecting is an admitted obsession for Dean Geleynse, an isle man who has amassed an extensive collection of contemporary artwork from all over the globe.
Geleynse conceived the concept for Nuuanu Gallery at Marks Garage's latest exhibit, "A.P. (About Paper)," which displays selected pieces from Geleynse's collection of paper art.
The show includes amazing works such as Peter Callesen's "Castle," a detailed miniature sculpture cut and assembled from one piece of paper.
It also features a piece from famed English artist Martin Creed, known for his conceptual works. "Work No. 88" is a crumpled piece of paper signed by the artist.
Geleynse will be leading a walk-through of the exhibit at 6 p.m. Thursday. He also leads private tours by appointment. Call 536-9828.
"A.P." runs through Aug. 25 at the gallery, located at 1161 Nuuanu Ave. Gallery hours are 11 a.m. to 6 p.m. Tuesdays to Fridays and to 3 p.m. Saturdays.
