The annual event mixes art sale with epicurean experience. This year's event -- titled "Salud!" -- employs Spain as a theme, with a host of top isle restaurants, including Roy's, Town and Mariposa providing the food. Laurel Glen Vineyards, Linne Calodo Cellars and Kysela Pére et Fils, Ltd. are but a few of the winemakers paying a visit to the museum. Entertainment will feature flamenco dancing and Latin music.
For all the great gourmet experiences and entertainment the event offers, however, art takes center stage, especially because the festivities benefit children's educational programs that the museum provides. Paintings, sculptures, original prints and jewelry by more than 150 local artists will be on display and for sale. And as is the annual custom, established local talents take the spotlight as featured artists. This year, Timothy P. Ojile, Tracy Gunn and Don Ed Hardy have been selected.
Those interested solely in the art sale can attended a free preview sale on Saturday. New works will be hung throughout the day.

The Academy's "Art to Go" and "Ambassador" programs, beneficiaries of the fundraiser, bring arts education to children statewide. The "Ambassador" program offers art instruction and museum visits to classroom students. "Art to Go" is a traveling education program that caters to at-risk youth. Instructors meet children after school and during summer to help them develop art skills, creative thinking, problem-solving abilities and teamwork.
