MEET THE AUTHOR
Mr. Smith goes to Macy's
Chef Art Smith has three James Beard Awards and is a New York Times best-selling cookbook author, but celebrity is as celebrity does, so he may be best known for his connection to TV diva Oprah Winfrey.
Smith is Winfrey's personal chef and a contributing editor to her O magazine. He also appears regularly on "The Today Show" and is a frequent judge on the Food Network's "Iron Chef America."
Smith is in town to appear at the Easter Seals benefit Chefs du Jour on Sunday at Aloha Tower. That event is sold out, but you can still meet Smith at a free cooking demonstration at 5 p.m. Friday at Macy's Ala Moana in the fourth-floor demonstration kitchen.
He will prepare Pistachio-Crusted Chicken with Coconut Chili-Ginger Sauce and sign his cookbook, "Back to the Family." Call 945-5894.
