Chris Bernard landed a solid shot to the head of Kimo Lani during an early bout of the X-1 elimination tournament at the Blasidell Arena last night. Bernard won by a technical knockout.

Lambert, Metzger victorious in Chicago
Punahou products Mike Lambert and Stein Metzger won their fourth title of the pro beach volleyball season yesterday, successfully defending the AVP Chicago Open by downing Brad Keenan and John Hyden 21-19, 21-17.
The duo moved into second place in the overall standings with 3,816 points.
Lambert finished as the tournament's top blocker, with 34 in 12 games. Metzger had 95 kills, hitting .494, while Lambert hit .500 with 70 kills in sharing the $28,000 first-place money.
Hans Stolfus teamed with Ty Loomis to share third, the highest finish among the former University of Hawaii and island players in the event.
Nash, McMackin, Murphy at QB Club
Hawaii basketball head coach Bob Nash and assistant Larry Farmer are scheduled to speak at the weekly Honolulu Quarterback Club meeting tomorrow at 11:30 a.m. at the Pagoda Hotel.
Don Murphy, one of the University of Hawaii's biggest boosters, and Warriors defensive coordinator Greg McMackin will also speak at the luncheon.
Pearl City improves to 3-0 in Oregon
Pearl City defeated a team from Utah 5-0 in the Junior Little League World Series (ages 13-14) yesterday in Beaverton, Ore.
Keanu Sato and Brennan Doane-Alcos combined to pitch the shutout for Pearl City. Chace Numata led the way at the plate, going 3-for-5, while Sato drove in two runs.
Pearl City (3-0) plays a team from Arizona today.
