Blogs should be part of the master plan
BLOGS are not complicated, yet they can accomplish so much for small-business owners and professionals. They are an undeniable part of a master marketing formula.
Elements of blogging are cropping up in nearly every area of marketing, media, and general communication. The most important reason is because of one key element: RSS (Real Simple Syndication). RSS is at the core of podcasts, instant digital distribution, and on-demand media.
You can use RSS to:
» Covertly monitor your niche, industry, or competitors;
» Stay up-to-speed filtering an incredible amount of information in a radically shortened timeframe;
» Help with your marketing, positioning, and promotion.
RSS is something that will exponentially multiply all of your online marketing strategies and many of your offline ones too. Simplicity is the key. Business blogs don't have a lot of moving parts, and are easy to manage. And, the best part is the viral (search-engine based and human) multiplication of your efforts.
Business blogs, podcasts, and RSS all work together to allow for rapid assimilation and leadership in niche areas of the marketplace.
For example, first-time authors Ben McConnell and Jackie Huba took their book, "Creating Customer Evangelists," to levels of national recognition so quickly that they seemed to come from nowhere.
How did this pair of trainers position themselves to be crowned the national "go- to experts" in their niche by the New York Times and Harvard Business School?
Their business blog and business podcast have played a measurable role in boosting their notoriety, respect, and recognition.
Their excellent book on word-of-mouth marketing got a real- world boost from the very strategy they espouse!
Today's overloaded consumer wants convenience. Since RSS is one of the major players in consumer-controlled media, it's here to stay. RSS is being used every day, all day, right in front of our eyes. It's convenient for both content providers and receivers. And that's what drives a capitalist economy -- solutions to demand.
Are people picketing in the streets or even expressing verbally what they want? Of course not. But they do know what they're yearning for, and that's control.
The fact is, to survive in business today, you must learn how to provide the solutions your target market wants.
When you take the time to do that, employ the principles of influence, and at the same time leverage the marketing power of business blogs, podcasts, and RSS, you'll realize that you've gotten the formula just right.
