Wahine No. 1 pick in WAC
For a 12th consecutive season, the University of Hawaii women's volleyball team was selected to wear the conference crown by year's end.
The Rainbow Wahine received eight of the nine first-place votes. Coaches are not allowed to select their own team. San Jose State received the other first-place vote, but was not chosen as the league's runner-up.
That honor went to upstart New Mexico State, which will host the WAC tournament Nov. 15-17. The Aggies handed the Rainbow Wahine their only defeat in league play. Hawaii finished 15-1 in the WAC and 29-6 overall.
