Realtors board awards $22,000 in grants
The Honolulu Board of Realtors awarded $22,000 from its Realtor Housing Fund to
Weed and Seed ($10,000),
Honolulu Habitat for Humanity ($7,000) and
Hawaii HomeOwnership Center ($5,000).
Big Brothers Big Sisters of Honolulu was given $7,500 by the Friends of Hawaii Charities Inc. to develop its Site-Based Mentoring programs.
Friends of Hawaii Charities Inc. awarded $10,000 to Narconon Hawaii for its New Life Detoxification Program. The funds will be spent on a dry-heat sauna as part of the rehabilitation program at Kalaeloa.
Finance Factors raised more than $6,000 early this month for the KEY (Kualoa-Heeia Ecumenical Youth) Project and Good Bears of the World Aloha Den through its annual Benefit Breakfast.
Hawaiian Electric Co. gave $75,000 to Goodwill Industries of Hawaii for its Ohana Career and Learning Center in Kapolei. Scheduled for completion in late 2008, the center will assist Leeward residents in developing vocational and professional skills through occupational skill training, pre-employment screening and training, job coaching and work experience.
