What's next: sun protection for your hair
By now everyone knows that exposing skin to sun without protection is damaging. The same holds true for hair which can turn rough, dry and brittle from overexposure to the sun, and salt- or chlorinated water.
Just as the cosmetic industry has come up with products designed to minimize the effects of skin damage, Kérastase has introduced a line of products to deal with sun-damaged hair.
Kérastase Soleil hair-care treatments are designed to protect, repair and enhance every type of hair with a three-step at-home process to be used before, during and after sun exposure to ensure hair is protected internally and externally.
The products feature a UV filter that absorbs UV rays during sun exposure in order to prevent the deterioration of the hair fiber; Cationic Silicone, which coats the length of the hair fiber to form a hydrophobic film providing water and humidity-resistant protection; and Ceramide, which replicates the hair's natural ceramides to reinforce the fibers' internal structure and restore the hair cuticle's protective foundation.
The line includes Créme UV Défense Active, $35, a leave-in cream that shields weakened color-treated hair from the elements; Masque UV Défense Active, $65; and Sérum Aprés-Soleil, which controls frizz and flyaway hair caused by humidity and ocean air.
Chop Salon in Restaurant Row is offering a complimentary deluxe Soleil treatment and blow dry with every purchase of a Soleil set through Tuesday. Call 585-7400 for more information.
