Democrats honor Waialeale at the Hale Koa on his 60th
DEMOCRATIC heavy hitters turned out for the 60th birthday party of
George Waialeale Sunday at the Hale Koa Hotel. Waialeale, a 1965 McKinley graduate, has been a strong behind-the-scenes worker for the Democrats and has served as party treasurer. Former Gov.
George Ariyoshi and wife,
Jean, attended. Other past and present lawmakers in the crowd included Senate Prez
Colleen Hanabusa, Sen.
Carol Fukunaga, Carl Takamura, Randall Iwase and
Brian Schatz. Dr.
Terry Shintani, a Waialeale neighbor and friend since childhood, was a speaker, as were Hanabusa and the HGEA's
Russell Okata. Fukunaga gave Waialeale a plaque recognizing his service. It was signed by her Senate colleagues.

LOGAN KIRK and Stephanie Saucedo, who work in Maui's visitor industry, were in Waikiki last weekend to celebrate Steph's 35th birthday. They say Waikiki is where the action is and Maui is where people go to relax. After filling up at lunch with food and wine at Cheesecake Factory's bar, served by bartender Sheri Goldberg, they moved on to Duke's. There was plenty of action there as manager Dante Kea had a packed house. Despite the mob, server Lisa Perenchio gave the birthday celebrants close attention.
