Before receiving their white coats, students signed a petition Friday evening as a reflection of their dedication to medicine during the University of Hawaii John A. Burns School of Medicine's annual White Coat Ceremony at the Hilton Hawaiian Village.

This year's class of 37 women and 25 men received their white coats Friday evening as well as their first stethoscopes and copies of "Bates' Guide to Physical Examination" and "On Doctoring." Students also recited a form of the Hippocratic oath.
