"A Song for Hana"

In the preface to the book of poetry "A Song for Hana," the author states that his purpose for writing the book was an attempt to save the coastal land of Hana, as well as address issues facing the larger environment of Hawaii. The book is organized into six chapters and takes the shape of a journey enhanced by photographs of the landscape.

A large hardcover book for children, "A Fishy Alphabet" uses the different types of fish around Hawaii to teach young readers about marine life while they learn their ABCs. Author Leslie Ann Hayashi and illustrator Kathleen Wong Bishop have worked together in the past, having created the popular "Fables" series of children's books.
