Disney getting ready to launch
While the early starters of the 44th annual Transpacific Yacht Race made their way through light winds on the second day of this event, the big boys waited patiently in Rainbow Harbor looking forward to Sunday's start.
Roy E. Disney's powerful Pyewacket boat and his Morning Light team's Transpac 52 were the center of attention yesterday in Long Beach, Calif. Both will give it a go Sunday with the fastest-rated boats. The boats in Divisions 4 and 5 will set sail tomorrow, along with the Santa Cruz 50s and 52s.
The early starters on Monday were showing some separation in light winds of 8 to 10 knots. Frank Easterbrook's Ariadne, a Ladd 73, was the early leader.
