UH's Taylor out of intensive care
Former Rainbow Wahine basketball player Janevia Taylor is out of intensive care and has been moved into a direct observation unit, Hawaii coach Jim Bolla reported yesterday.
Taylor, who suffered head trauma and internal injuries as a result of a June 23 car accident in California, has shown stable vital signs but remains in an induced coma, Bolla said. With the move out of intensive care, Taylor can now have visitors.
"It's a positive kind of step," Bolla said. "We're just basically waiting for her to wake up."
A fund has been set up at First Hawaiian Bank to help defray Taylor's medical expenses. She and her family have no health insurance.
Donations may be made at any branch or mailed to: Friends of Janevia Taylor, c/o First Hawaiian Bank, 2764 Woodlawn Dr., Honolulu, HI. Checks may be made out to Friends of Janevia Taylor.
Well-wishers may also write to Taylor and her family at 44046 Bogard Ct., Lancaster, CA 93536.
