DID YOU HEAR THE NEWS?JOHN BERGER / JBERGER@STARBULLETIN.COMHuey Lewis, second from left, lead vocalist of Huey Lewis & the News, conferred backstage with concert promoters Rick Davis, left, and Michael Sponberg, and comedian Augie T, moments before he joined the News for an excellent 90-minute concert in the Blaisdell Concert Hall on June 29. The group played most of their signature hits from the '80s -- "The Heart of Rock & Roll," "Stuck With You," "Do You Believe in Love" and "Workin' for a Livin'" among them -- and had the crowd dancing through the second half of the show. They also paid homage to the roots of rock 'n' roll with a cappella renditions of "It's Alright" and "Um, Um, Um, Um, Um, Um." CLICK FOR LARGE |

"HEY, PAULA!"JOHN BERGER / JBERGER@STARBULLETIN.COMHoku Award-winner Paula Fuga was a perfect headliner for "Art After Dark" at the Honolulu Academy of Arts on June 29. The designated theme for the evening was "Muse," and although the overall vibe was less pop and less upscale then usual, Fuga and her dreadlocked sideman, guitarist Mike Love, boosted the coolness quotient with their mellow island music.
