New Media is natural fit for women
First of two parts
AMAZING! It took until the 21st century for companies to listen to what women want and create strategic plans that accommodate their needs and desires. Companies are now able to target women through a channel conducive to what women want: New Media.
New-media marketing is a natural fit for women. It is rewarding them monetarily for doing what has come naturally to them for centuries -- networking, sharing, and helping their communities.
The only difference is that in the 21st century, we reward each other with our business loyalty!
WOMEN tend to look at their buying decisions as a way to reward "the better person," the one who deserves to be in business. Women know when they're being used like a cheap prom date.
The moment a woman feels she's "just another number" by a man who just wants to "make the sale" and get what he wants, she'll use her power online by hitting the delete button. Then she'll award her business to someone who "gets it" and welcomes her to contribute to the transaction.
Selling in this 21st century requires extraordinary people skills. Online sales in the new millennium go far beyond simply having a good headline, sales letter, and product. Studies have proven that we buy from people we like. People who are successful at building rapport with women online will be rewarded for it.
Men who merely stick with the good-old-boys network are promptly being passed over by every businesswoman who interacts with her customers, gives them what they are looking for and gets them involved with her company.
Web 2.0 allows women to get the last word -- and contribute. Women get to contribute when and how they want.
Even the introverted woman gets to contribute, and her voice will be heard without being overpowered by a man in the traditional in-person networking group.
Blogs, podcasts, social networks and vlogs on YouTube or MySpace allow her to contribute to the conversation and get to know the person behind the product.
WOMEN have a natural desire to connect with people in a friendly, intimate way. Women who understand how to market with new media through real connections have a strategic advantage over men (and women who don't get it) in the new Web 2.0 world.
Next week we'll take a look at the natural differences between men and women and how those differences affect new-media marketing.
And you thought you knew what all those differences were!
