Hawaiian Air lands two honors
It edges out Aloha for customer satisfaction in Consumer Reports
Hawaiian Airlines, which consistently has been near or at the top of consumer service rankings, has landed two more top honors.
Travel + Leisure magazine ranked Hawaiian as the third-best domestic airline in its recently published World's Best Service Awards while Consumer Reports rated Hawaiian fifth overall in customer satisfaction in its July issue. Both rankings were based on readership surveys.
In April, Hawaiian was ranked the top American airline for passenger service in the 17th annual Airline Quality Ratings, which evaluated the nation's 18 largest carriers using a weighted average of 15 elements in four major service areas.
Travel + Leisure surveyed readers to rate airlines on their in-flight service and customer service, and published the results in its June issue. Hawaiian was the top-ranked airline serving Hawaii. Other airlines on the domestic list were Midwest Airlines, first; JetBlue Airways, second; Southwest Airlines, fourth; and Sun Country Airlines, fifth. The list didn't include any other airlines beyond the top five.
"Our customers have high expectations for quality and this award shows how well Hawaiian's employees deliver. This honor belongs to them," said Mark Dunkerley, president and chief executive of Hawaiian.
In Consumer Reports, Hawaiian was one of four airlines chosen as a "best buy" for its combination of service and price. Other airlines making the group were JetBlue, Southwest and Frontier Airlines.
"All four of these airlines were standouts for service and on-time performance, according to our readers, and all offered relatively low fares for their routes," Consumer Reports said.
Aloha Airlines finished just behind Hawaiian in sixth place in the overall Consumer Reports rankings and was one of two airlines -- Midwest was the other -- singled out "for solid service but not necessarily a low fare."
"Both scored well overall with our readers," Consumer Reports said. "Midwest (ranked second overall behind JetBlue in the Consumer Reports rankings) stands out for its seating comfort and cabin service; Aloha, for its on-time performance," Consumer Reports said.
