» Kurt Suzuki (Baldwin, Cal State Fullerton) made his major league debut on Tuesday. He is the 39th player from Hawaii to play in the majors. Suzuki pinch hit for Santiago Casilla in the 10th inning and grounded out, then caught the 10th and 11th innings in the 5-4 loss to Houston. He earned his first major league hit two days later off Detroit's Brian Moehler.
» Brandon League (Saint Louis) has moved closer to a return to the Toronto Blue Jays. The right-hander continued his rehab with the New Hampshire Fisher Cats in the Class AA Eastern League, then moved up to the Syracuse Chiefs in the Class AAA International League last week.
» Brandon Chaves (Hilo, Hawaii-Hilo) has a 10-game hitting streak. The shortstop for the Altoona (Pa.) Curve is 16-for-37 (.432) during the streak with three doubles, a triple and eight runs batted in.
» Rex Rundgren (Mid-Pacific, Sacramento City), who did not play from May 11 to June 10 because of a back strain, was 2-for-5 in his first game off the disabled list on Monday.
» Isaac Omura (Mid-Pacific, Hawaii) has been transferred by Oakland from the Kane County (Ill.) Cougars in the low Class A Midwest league to the Stockton Ports in the high Class A California League.
» Chad Santos (Saint Louis) was transferred off the Fresno Grizzlies' roster on May 29 and sent to extended spring training.
» Justin Costi (Hawaii) earned his first professional victory on June 10 although it wasn't a pretty outing for the right-hander. He gave up six hits and three runs, all earned, in 1 2/3 innings. However, his Kansas City T-Bone teammates rallied for five runs while Costi was the pitcher of record in the 8-6 win over the Schaumburg Flyers.
» Mark Okano (Aiea, New Mexico), has a six-game hitting streak and his .455 batting average is second on the Golden League. So far, he has been the Orange Country Flyers designated hitter and played third base, second base and left field.
» Gavin Ng (Mililani, U. San Diego) ran his successful consecutive stolen base attempts to 13 before being thrown out for the first time on Friday.
» Pat Scalabrini (Hawaii), an infielder, was traded by the St. Paul Saints of the American Association to the Quebec Capitales of the Cam-Am League on June 11. Scalabrini had been on the Saints inactive list since Dec. 1, 2006.
