Crockett takes Pew fisheries post
Lee Crockett is giving up his position as executive director of the Marine Fish Conservation Network for eight years to join the Pew Environment Group. As the Pew federal fisheries policy director, Crockett will work with the public and Congress to ensure the implementation of the nation's primary federal fisheries law enacted in January.
The James Campbell Company donated $150,000 to nine West Oahu schools, including; Mauka Lani Elementary; Makakilo Elementary, Kapolei Elementary, Barbers Point Elementary, Kapolei Middle, Nanakuli High and Intermediate, James Campbell High, Kapolei High, and Waianae High.
The Harry and Jeanette Weinberg Foundation gave $5,000 to the Big Brothers Big Sisters of Honolulu's school mentoring program. The grant was awarded in recognition of the mentoring services provided by 26 Iolani School students to children from Ala Wai Elementary School. The Iolani volunteers also wrote essays on their experiences.
Kiewit Building Group, Inc., a general contractor, donated $5,000 to the Kapolei Public Library to present a series of musical performances by local performers until June 27.
