Key into the Piano Festival
The second annual Aloha International Piano Festival features student lessons, workshops, piano competitions and concerts. The week-long event begins tomorrow with student orientation at the Hawaii Convention Center. All concerts are held at the Liliu Theater.
Below is a list of events:
» Monday: Sean Botkin piano recital at 7:30 p.m. featuring the Hammerklavier Sonata Op. 106. Tickets are $20; $5 students.
» Wednesday: Workshop with Steven Graff, noon to 2 p.m. with discussion on techniques on sight reading and improvisation. Tickets are $10; $5 students and includes refreshments. And, an "Evening of Schubert Duo Masterworks" with Martin Canin and Lisa Nakamichi, 7:30 p.m. Tickets are $20; $5 students.
» Thursday: Workshop with Martin Canin, noon to 2 p.m. with discussion on teaching and performing. Tickets are $10; $5 students and includes refreshments.
» Friday: Steven Graff piano recital, 7:30 p.m. features Bach, Barber and works from Pulitzer-prize winning composer, David Del Tredici. Tickets are $20; $5 students.
» Next Saturday: First Aloha International Piano Competition, starts at 9 a.m.
» June 17: "Aloha Finale! Piano Ensemble Extravaganza," 3 p.m. Tickets are $30; $5 students.
