Katrina survivor offers insights on disaster
With June the start of hurricane season, Hurricane Katrina survivor Noel Dauterive kicks off Disaster Preparedness Week at a luncheon, 11:30 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. Tuesday at the Mauna Kea Ballroom in the Hawaii Prince Hotel.
Dauterive, general manager of the Energy Building in New Orleans, will discuss the aftermath of the storm and how the city's experience in crisis response can be applied to Honolulu. Cost is $45.

Museum offers walking tours of historic Honolulu locations
Mission Houses Museum is offering a Capitol District walking tour the second Saturday each month beginning tomorrow.
The tour, led by local historian Nanette N. Napoleon, will start at the Mission Houses Museum & Cemetery, shown at left, and will cover Kawaiaha'o Church & Cemetery/Lunalilo Tomb, Iolani Palace/State Archives, the Hawaii State Capitol, Washington Place/St. Andrews Cathedral, the Hawaii State Art Museum, Queen's Hospital and Honolulu Hale, ending back at the Mission Houses Museum.
Tour hours are 10 a.m. to noon and cost is $15 ($10 for members). Reservations are encouraged as space is limited. Call 531-0481, ext. 707.
