'Top Chef' finalists will revisit Waikoloa
The two runners-up in last year's "Top Chef" competition will cook side by side at the Great Waikoloa Wine and Music Festival on June 16 on the Big Island.
Elia Aboumrad and Marcel Vigneron will join more than 30 Hawaii chefs at the dining event that concludes the 13th Annual Dolphin Days Summer Fest at the Hilton Waikoloa Village.
Aboumrad and Vigneron filmed the final two episodes of the Bravo cooking competition at the Waikoloa last fall, when Ilan Hall took home the second-season championship. Both chefs are from Las Vegas -- Aboumrad is assistant room chef at the Hotel; Vigneron is master cook at Joel Robuchon at the Mansion.
Vigneron will also be featured at a Chef & Winemaker Dinner on June 15 at Donatoni's.
The Waikoloa festival includes entertainment by Deniece Williams, Paul Jackson Jr. and Kenny Rankin, and a firework display.
Tickets are $125 trough Sunday; $150 afterward. Children's tickets are $75. Call (808) 886-1234, ext. 54, or visit www.dolphindays.com.
The event benefits the Pacific Marine Life Foundation and the Hawaii Shriners Hospital for Children.
