» Kala Ka'aihue (Iolani) is 11-for-33 (.333) in his last 10 games. The first baseman connected for three doubles, a triple, two home runs and walked nine times during that stretch. He has drawn a walk in seven consecutive games.
» Reid Santos (Castle, Saddleback) made his first start of the season last Wednesday night after 16 relief appearances for the Akron Aeros. The left-hander pitched 4 2/3 innings, gave up five hits, three runs, two earned, walked one and fanned three and suffered his first loss of the season.
» Shane Victorino (St. Anthony), who plays right field, has nine assists, tops among outfielders in the National League.
» Micah Furtado (Kapaa, Lewis & Clark State) is 5-for-6 in stolen base attempts this season.
» Brandon League (Saint Louis) made his first appearances of the season on a rehab assignment with the Dunedin Blue Jays in the Florida State League.
» Rodney Choy Foo (Kailua), an infielder, is on the Akron Aeros disabled list.
» Brandon Villafuerte (Big-Island born), a right-handed pitcher, signed with the Schaumburg (Ill.) Flyers of the independent Northern League on May 25. This is his 13th season in pro ball.
» Steve Bryant (Hawaii) has been released by the Oakland Athletics. The right-hander did not pitch last year after having shoulder surgery and had been in extended spring training.
