VA to conduct monthly visits to neighbor isles
The Honolulu Department of Veterans Affairs regional office says service representatives will conduct monthly visits to the neighbor islands to provide information and claims assistance to veterans and their families.
Appointments can be made by calling the VA center on each island. Except for Molokai, the visits will be monthly. For Molokai, beginning June 15, the VA visits will be quarterly.
The phone numbers and visitation dates for neighbor island vet centers are:
» Hilo: first Wednesday (969-3833); 891 Ululani St.
» Maui: second Thursday (242-8557); 35 Lunalilo St. Suite 101, Wailuku.
» Kauai: third Wednesday (246-1163); 3-3367 Kuhio Highway, Suite 101.
» Kona: fourth Wednesday (329-0574); 75-5995 Kuakini Highway, No. 415.
» Molokai: June 15 (553-8387).

» Brig. Gen. James M. Holmes, who is deputy chief of staff for the Air, Space and Information Operations, Plans and Requirements at Headquarters U.S. Air Force, will become director of strategic plans, programs and international affairs at Headquarters Pacific Air Forces.

» Rear Adm. Thomas H. Copeman III, who is now chief of staff for Naval Surface Force in San Diego, will become deputy chief of staff for operations, training and readiness for the U.S. Pacific Fleet.
» Rear Adm. Thomas C. Traaen, who is now deputy commander of Fleet Logistics Operations in the Naval Supply Systems Command, will become deputy chief of staff for logistics, fleet supply and ordnance for the U.S. Pacific Fleet.
