According to Joe
Joe Gedan
|
What hath God wrought?
(With a tip of the hat to poet Joyce Kilmer)
I think that I shall never see
A duo worse than Bush Cheney
A duo with clever mouths possessed
To mask their stain on Earth's tortured breast
Bush claims he got from God one day
An indulgence for his Iraq affray
So now they pin to suit lapels they wear
Flags feigning a patriotic air
But every day a trooper's slain
With the bitter hint, "He died in vain."
Parodies made by fools like me
Ask, if there's a God, how can it be?
Daily headlines inspire the poet in Joe Gedan, a retired U.S. magistrate judge who lives in Honolulu. His observations on the news appear on Sundays and Fridays.
