Wie’s woes continues
She pulls out of Ginn Tribute after aggravating a wrist injury
Michelle Wie said she hopes to play in the LPGA's next major championship next week.
But after withdrawing yesterday from the Ginn Tribute hosted by Annika Sorenstam at Mount Pleasant, S.C., because she aggravated a wrist injury, her chances of playing will come down to how fast she heals.
"I want to be smart about (the injury)," said Wie yesterday.
"The last thing I want to do is not play next week," she added. "I'm really excited to get back in the game and play in tournaments again. I'm going to reanalyze it and kind of try to be smart about it. But I definitely want to play next week."
Wie pulled out after shooting 14 over par through 16 holes, which included a 10 on the par-5 third hole when her first drive hit a parked car and rolled down a roadway drain.
