It was a sad day for enthusiastic eaters last year when Easter Seals Hawaii announced it would not be continuing the annual Taste of Honolulu food festival.

But the eat-a-thon will continue, with a new name and a new sponsor, Abilities Unlimited, an organization that helps place people with disabilities in the work force.

Flavors of Honolulu takes place June 29 to July 1 on the grounds of Honolulu Hale, with 21 restaurants already signed on. Entertainment will include actress Tia Carrere, debuting her first CD, "Hawaiiana."

Presale tickets and packages are available: $6 per day, $10 for two days and $15 for three. The event is free to seniors, children and active-duty military. Scrip will be sold for food, with packages available. Call 948-0088 or visit www.flavorsofhonolulu.org.

Volunteers are needed, to the tune of 1,500 to 1,800. Nonprofit groups are invited to support the event and earn up to $1,000. Call 532-2100 or download a registration form at www.abilitiesunlimitedhi.org.
