Business Woman of Year named

The American Business Women's Association has selected Hattie E. Phillips, K-12 resource teacher of Kuaihelani Center at Punahou School, as its 2007 Woman of the Year.

Steven Santiago, a senior recreation specialist of the city Department of Parks and Recreation, was named its 2007 Business Associate of the Year.

John R. Lacy, a partner with Goodsill Anderson Quinn & Stifel, has been inducted as a fellow of the American College of Trial Lawyers. He is one of 26 lawyers in Hawaii who is a member of the premier legal association.

Linda Johnsrud, vice president for academic planning and policy at the University of Hawaii, has been elected to the Western Association of Schools and Colleges' Accrediting Commission for Senior Colleges and Universities. Her three-year term begins in July.

Mid-Pacific Institute junior Reyn Halford won the first-place award in the Executive Women's International Scholarship program and will advance to national competition this summer. He competed against five finalists from across the state to win the top $5,000 scholarship. The program encourages leadership and community service in young people.
