9 Leeward Oahu schools get tech grants

The James Campbell Co. donated $150,000 to nine Kapolei and West Oahu public schools to support their technology needs. The funds were allocated as follows:

Kapolei High School and Kapolei Middle School, $30,000 each; Campbell High School, Nanakuli High & Intermediate School, Waianae High School, $10,000 each; Kapolei Elementary School, Barbers Point Elementary School, Makakilo Elementary School, Mauka Lani Elementary School, $15,000 each.


Parents and Children Together (PACT) awarded Pacific Resources for Education and Learning (PREL) a five-year, $150,000 contract as the external evaluator for the Hawaii Parental Information and Resource Center (HPIRC). The HPIRC will be implemented in 21 public schools to increase parental involvement.


The nonprofit Pacific American Foundation selected Hawaii Student Television (HSTV) to create a video on the foundation's Waikalua Loko Fishpond outreach program, which lets students help maintain and preserve the Kaneohe Bay pond.

Student participants included Javen Correia and Micah Mottas of Maryknoll School, Kahoalii Wood of Roosevelt High School, Jeric Torres of Aiea Intermediate School and Ken Harland of Leeward Community College.
