Author to translate Eastern wisdom
Author Anthony Stultz will translate the ancient wisdom of the East through the perspective of modern Western psychology in a free Thursday lecture at the Buddhist Study Center, 1436 University Ave.
The 7 p.m. talk on "For Directions of an Awakened Life" is based on his book by the same name. Stultz combines teachings of Shin Buddhism with the Naikan method of directed meditation.

Stultz is a founder and teacher at the Blue Mountain of Lotus Society meditation center in Harrisburg, Pa.
He will also speak about the book at a book signing event from 12:30 to 1:30 p.m. Thursday at Bestsellers Books, 1001 Bishop St.
Organ players offer scholarships
Music students interested in learning to play the organ could qualify for tuition scholarships offered by the American Guild of Organists, Hawaii chapter.
The organization will pay 50 percent of the cost of organ lessons for a year beginning July 1. The scholarship is available to Hawaii residents. Applicants will audition on piano or organ on June 9 at Our Redeemer Lutheran Church, 1404 University Ave.
