Jerome Williams (Waipahu) pitched four-hit ball for six innings in a rehab assignment with the Columbus Clippers of the International League last Thursday. He allowed one earned run, walked two and fanned five. The right-hander is on the Washington Nationals' disabled list with a sprained left ankle. Williams is expected to be ready to rejoin the rotation and start against the Atlanta Braves on Tuesday.
» Kala Ka'aihue (Iolani) is 12-for-37 (.324) in his last 10 games with five doubles, a homer and six runs batted in. After a slow start at the plate, he has raised his batting average 59 points to .231.
» Brian Bock (Hawaii) was transferred by the Baltimore Orioles from the Bowie (Md.) Baysox in the Class AA Eastern League to the Frederick (Md.) Keys in the Class A Carolina League on Friday. The catcher was 1-for-2 as the Keys' designated hitter that night.
» Kila Ka'aihue (Iolani) and Bronson Sardinha (Kamehameha) have five-game hitting streaks.
» Dusty Bergman (Hawaii), a left-hander, has signed with the Reno (Nev.) Silver Sox of the independent Golden League. Bergman, in his ninth season of pro ball, also will be Reno's pitching coach.
» Matt Inouye (Mid-Pacific, Hawaii) had a rough spring. After suffering an injury to his right hand and recovering, the catcher broke the hamate bone in his left wrist during a drill blocking balls. Inouye had surgery April 11 and is expected to be ready to play when short-season leagues open June 19.
