GQ's 'Style Guy' nixes aloha shirt with tux for wedding
IN A LETTER TO GQ magazine's "Style Guy"
Glenn O'Brien, a woman asks if a Hawaiian-print shirt is acceptable for her guy to pair with a tux at their garden wedding -- because that's what he wants to wear. O'Brien, in the May issue and under the headline "Fashion Five-0," answers, "There are few situations in which a Hawaiian shirt and a tuxedo should be in the same room together, much less worn simultaneously." He adds if the Hawaiian shirt is worn by the groom, it should be a vintage one with white linen trousers -- "and no flip-flops." A cool drawing by

onward: Waikiki by Moonlight will have things popping when it returns June 1. It will be moved a couple of blocks on Kalakaua to focus on the revitalized projects of Royal Hawaiian Shopping Center and Waikiki Beach Walk. Kalakaua will be closed to traffic between Lewers and Seaside, starting at 3:30 p.m. The action begins at 6 and will run to 10 p.m. Main-stage entertainment will include Nina Kealiiwahamana and Mahi Beamer, Danny Couch, Jake Shimabukuro, Natural Vibrations, Pali and hula dancers, Ernie Cruz Jr. and Justin Young.
