Kailua gets OIA's final spot in D-II state tournament
Ashley Jacobs nailed all three Kailua 3-pointers and finished with a game-high 21 points as the Surfriders defeated Waialua 54-45 last night at McKinley to claim the OIA's third and final berth in next week's Division II state girls basketball tournament.
Zsalei Kamaka added 13 points and Kristen Corrales had 10 as Kailua jumped out to a 31-17 halftime advantage. The Bulldogs managed to cut the lead to six with 3 minutes left, but Kailua converted eight free throws down the stretch to pull out the victory.
Chelsey Ramirez had 16 points and Kimberly Meyerowitz finished with 13 to lead Waialua.

Jamie Ronolo scored a game-high 23 points on 10-for-15 shooting from the field and Na Menehune outscored the Red Raiders by seven points in the second half to finish fifth in the OIA playoffs.
McZeen Ale nailed three 3-pointers and had nine points to lead the Red Raiders, who advance to the state tournament despite the loss.
Moanalua converted just nine of 18 free throws, but still held an advantage over Kahuku, which only attempted two shots from the line the entire game.
