E-40 books June 16 show at the Arena
AS WAS first reported last week in my online blog, www.sonecessary. tv, Bay Area rap legend
E-40 is returning to Honolulu for a concert next month.
The rapper, who released "My Ghetto Report Card" last year, will be in town June 16 to perform with Doey Rock at Blaisdell Arena. Promoter B Hood Entertainment reports tickets will be $30 to $40 and available only on the day of the show.
E-40 is back in the islands for the second time in as many years. He was in town last February for a gig at the O Lounge in conjunction with the NFL Pro Bowl ...
MY BLOG was also the first place to read about Natural Vibrations returning to the Billboard reggae chart with their latest effort, "From the Heart."
They made it onto the same chart with "The Circle" in 2003, but this time, they debuted in the No. 5 spot, behind releases by the legendary Bob Marley, his sons Stephen Marley and Damian Marley, and Sean Paul.
The guys return to Hawaii this week after wrapping up a West Coast tour on Sunday. Oahu fans will have a chance to party with the band during their album release party at Pipeline on May 26 ...
LOCAL SINGER
Paula Fuga also performed in Southern California over the weekend.
While Natty Vibes are mainland tour veterans, this is the first time Fuga has left the islands to play. After gigs in Solana Beach, Calif., and Los Angeles over the weekend, she plays in San Diego tonight alongside Chris Joyner and Franchot Tone.
Fuga will be on the mainland for a few more weeks, with additional shows in San Diego and Santa Barbara, Calif., before wrapping things up in Malibu, Calif., on May 20 ...
BACK AT home, you've got another chance to support local hip-hop this week, when "Samsara" goes down Thursday at NextDoor.
This will probably be your last chance to see Nabahe before he leaves for the mainland to finish up his new album. He'll be joined by Joe Dub, Parlous and Nomasterbacks' Wade and Well.Being. DJ Oliver Twist will be on the decks to back up host Big Mox, while Stan Still produces live artwork.
Local band Black Square will also be on hand to provide live beats for an open-mike session ...
MORE CONCERTS coming up: Pato Banton performs with the Mystic Roots Band at Pipeline Cafe on Thursday. Freesound is the opening act ... While Sunday's 30 Seconds to Mars concert at Pipeline is sold out, I'm told tickets are still available for Friday's early show ... And Don Carlos is making another return visit to Oahu. He'll be joined by Iration and Ooklah the Moc at the Waikiki Shell on May 26 ...
