Friday: "Trip the Lights: Beat Root 4"

Lightsleepers Hawaii brings back its popular original beat battle, as DJ Kavet the Catalyst hosts "Trip the Lights: Beat Root 4." Local producers Humdrum, opposite, Jerome James, Ntaleck and MattRatt are among those signed up to compete.

Doors open at 8 p.m. and all ages are welcome; cover is $15 at the door. DJs Observ and Olivertwist will spin, with live art installations by Stan Still and Shaun Castro.

Saturday: "Satellite Grey CD Release Party"

Local rock newcomers Satellite Grey, pictured, burst onto the scene this weekend, with a CD release party at NextDoor in Chinatown.

"Mirror Transmission" is the name of the new album; Lushion and Explore will serve as opening acts for this 21-and-over party. Doors open at 8 p.m. Saturday; cover is $10.
