RESTAURANT REPORT
Dinner and beer
Beer guy Andy Baker hosts a Spring Beer Dinner at the Willows on Thursday, with "duck, an elephant and a dead guy."
Chef Jay Matsukawa's menu: Roasted Hamakua Mushroom Antipasto (served with Carlsberg Elephant), Bouquet of Spring Mesclun Greens with Pan-Seared Scallops (Rogue Dead Guy Ale), Slow-Cooked Duck (Ayinger Celebrator Doppelbock), and Kahlua and Chocolate Panna Cotta (Lindeman's Framboise).
The beers are variations on the "bock" German spring brewing style -- dark lagers that are higher in alcohol, that supposedly chase away the winter blues.
Also to be featured is a Sam Adams White Ale, the spring seasonal offering from Boston Beer Co., and a Belgian Lambic beer for dessert.
Cost is $60, $55 for members of Willows' Beer Club. Call 952-9200. Dinner is at 6 p.m. The Willows is at 901 Hausten St.
