Hogue, Cunningham join crowded airwaves
Bob Hogue and Jai Cunningham join the KUMU (1500-AM) sports lineup next week with the debut of "The Bob and Jai Show."
The sports talk show will run each Thursday from 6 to 9 a.m., until late May.
There are discussions to expand to Tuesdays and Thursdays late next month, Hogue and KUMU general manager John Aeto said. That would complete a five-day-a-week sports talk lineup going directly against "The Bobby Curran Show," which airs on KKEA (1420-AM) each weekday morning.
"Leahey and Leahey" completed its first week yesterday. That show is on Mondays and Fridays. Jeff Portnoy's show on Wednesdays is scheduled to debut in early May.
Hogue is a former sports director at KHON (Ch. 3), where Cunningham worked under him as a sports reporter and weekend anchor. Cunningham is still at the TV station as a news reporter and anchor.
Hogue said the new radio show will be very interactive.
"We want callers to feel comfortable with us. We will be looking to get as many opinions as possible," Hogue said. "We'll play good cop/bad cop sometimes and have some fun segments as well."
KUMU and KKEA both air Saturday morning golf shows, but at different times. Danielle Tucker's "The Golf Club Radio Show" is from 7 to 8:30 a.m. on KUMU, while "1420 Golf with Steve Murray" is on KKEA from 9 to 10 a.m. and is co-hosted by Matt Hall.
