Warriors may book stadium for finale
Hawaii football coach June Jones wants the Warriors to hold their April 28 final spring practice in the evening at Aloha Stadium.
If details are worked out with stadium management, UH can have an event similar to the one in 2004, the last time the Warriors held a spring football finale at the stadium.
About 3,500 fans showed up for the free event that included fan interaction with players and coaches.
One difference is there probably won't be a scrimmage this time, Jones said.
"It will be more of a fan day," he said.
UH wants to work out a deal with Aloha Stadium management so the school won't have to pay as much as it did last time for use of the facility.
Spring practice continues this week with workouts tomorrow through Thursday and Saturday at UH, 7 to 9 a.m.
Camp concludes next week with sessions April 23, 26 and 27 before the Saturday wrap-up.
If UH doesn't secure Aloha Stadium, its last practice will include a fan event at the grass football and soccer practice fields on campus, similar to what has been done the past two years.
