Advertising firms strut at annual Pele Awards
The 2007 Pele Awards were presented by the Hawaii Advertising Federation last night in the Tapa Ballroom of the Hilton Hawaiian Village.
Of 850 entries from 109 entrants, 55 first-place Peles were awarded for excellence in print and broadcast advertising and for excellence in design. There were 95 silver winners and 104 bronze winners.
Unusual this year is that independent producers won the big TV production awards, said Barbara Scott, veteran Pele Awards coordinator.
Also out of the ordinary is that two agency employees, Dave Ciano and Jennifer Tanabe, won three awards, including a Best of Show for volunteer work prepared for the 'Ohina Short Film Showcase.
