Seasiders, Sea Warriors to play for title
The Brigham Young-Hawaii and Hawaii Pacific womens tennis teams play for the Pacific West Conference title at 2:30 p.m. today in Laie.
The Seasiders earned the spot in the championship with a sweep of Chaminade yesterday while the Sea Warriors beat UH-Hilo 7-1. BYUH (26-0) won two doubles matches before Chaminade forfeited the rest of the slate because of injuries. Hilo took one doubles match from HPU (16-4), but the Sea Warriors won every other match.
» The BYUH men's team beat UH-Hilo 5-1 yesterday to improve to 12-2 and give it momentum for its upcoming match with Hawaii.
Tomas Hiadil, Marvin So'onalole and Jacob Huza scored singles wins for the Seasiders, who will Play UH on April 17 in Honolulu.
Shimizu silences Antelopes
Hawaii Pacific pitcher Jason Shimizu allowed only four hits to lead the Sea Warriors over Grand Canyon University 13-4 in the second game of a baseball doubleheader yesterday at Phoenix.
HPU (20--21) lost the opener 8-2. The teams wrap up the series with a doubleheader today.
Faagai sets personal best in discus
Alana Faagai, a freshman on the Hawaii track and field team, set a new personal best in the discus with a throw of 45.05 meters at the Mt. SAC Relays yesterday in Azusa, Calif.
The Rainbow Wahine also took the top two places in the pole vault with Jessica Trujillo (3.65 meters) and Samantha Weaver (3.5) leading the way.
