Possibilities spring from 'Lost' contest
IT'S TIME for an update on the "Lost" contest we invited fans to enter before the second half of the third season began. Participants sent in answers to our five questions, hoping to win an entire set of "Lost" action figures signed by creator
Todd McFarlane. The figures we'll give away include Jack, Kate, Hurley, Locke, Charlie, Shannon and the Hatch box set.
Who will die next and how will that person die? In response to our first question, several participants thought Danny Pickett (Michael Bowen) would be the next character to exit the show. Others believed Henry/Ben (Michael Emerson) or Desmond (Henry Ian Cusick) might be, and even mega-stars Jack (Matthew Fox) and Sawyer (Josh Holloway) were thrown into the mix. One person came closest when he guessed that Paulo (Rodrigo Santoro) would soon die. But he thought a tsunami would wipe out the Brazilian hunk, along with a few other unnecessary folks. Now that Paulo and Nikki (Kiele Sanchez) appear to have been buried alive, we'll wait and see if some miracle allows them to crawl up through the sand and rejoin the castaways or if the actors will just go ahead and pursue their movie careers. We know what Santoro has been up to, and Sanchez reportedly is involved in a project titled "Football Wives," according to the Internet Movie Data Base.
What will happen to Henry/Ben on the operating table? Almost everyone guessed correctly that he would survive the operation thanks to Jack's skills. One person predicted he would end up paralyzed.
What caused the paralysis in John Locke's legs? Perhaps the most inventive idea was that psychological trauma after the transplant surgery immobilized Locke (Terry O'Quinn). Several people said a car accident or a gunshot wound resulted in paralysis. Other possibilities included a wayward automatic door, a one-man plane crash or an illness from surgery. Only one contributor guessed correctly that a fall in a "tussle" with his father broke his back.
Before we give out the valuable award, however, we must watch for a couple of other revelations.
Where will Claire and Charlie's relationship go? Despite Internet sites devoted to their relationship, several participants felt the couple would go "nowhere" because "Charlie can't commit." Yet another predicted that Charlie (Dominic Monaghan) would admit to kidnapping Sun, and this would destroy the trust Claire (Emilie de Ravin) had built in him. Others felt sure the two would get married.
What will happen with the Kate/Sawyer/Jack love triangle? Perhaps the Kate/ Sawyer and Jack/Juliet matches will last for a while, until Kate and Jack finally end up getting married? Or maybe Kate, who "doesn't do taco night" will never be the kind of "good girl" suited for Jack, and therefore will stick with Sawyer. Yet another entrant believed Sawyer would get killed, leaving Kate with Jack.
Lots of possibilities. One winner. We'll have to wait and see.
