Malepeai powers Rams past Hurricanes

Radford's Marlena Malepeai scored 10 of her game-high 14 points in the first half as the eighth-ranked Rams took a 25-10 lead into intermission and went on to defeat Kapolei 51-30 in an Oahu Interscholastic Association Red West game last night at the Hurricanes' gym.
Chelsea-Ann Villanueva and Ta Nitra Byrd added 13 and 12 points, respectively, for Radford.
Tahnee Foki had a team-high nine for the Hurricanes, who faced a 10-1 deficit after one period.

Mid-Pacific trailed 6-4 entering the top of the seventh, but scored three runs to get the win and improve to 4-1 at Central Oahu Regional Park.
Robert Dittrick and Todd Nagamine both singled and scored on a throwing error on Russell Doi's grounder to shortstop. Michael Arakaki, pinch-running for Doi, scored the eventual game-winning run as Aaron Fujiki bunted with two outs when the ball was thrown away.
