FITNESS
Lavaman Kids Aquathlon and Cutty Fitness Challenge: To be held Saturday, March 31, at Anaeho'omalu Bay in Waikoloa. Kids will be able to enjoy a day of sport and fitness starting with a motivational sportsmanship clinic and group stretch with Olympic triathletes and many local triathlete stars. Races will follow for children ages 6-and-under with a 200-meter sandy beach run, ages 7-10 will plunge in for a 50-meter swim and half-mile run, while ages 11-14 will swim 100-meters and run 1-mile. Lavakids Clinic: Clinic/camp open to children of all abilities, Friday, March 30, Hilton Waikoloa Village Kohala Spa. Led by Olympic and Ironman Coach Paul Regensburg, the camp will teach young athletes to improve their skills in swimming, biking, running, and going quicker in their transitions. Women's Only Clinic: Clinic/camp open to women of all ability levels and will be led by Olympic gold medal and Ironman Coach Lance Watson and members of the Canadian Olympic Women's triathlon team. This one-day seminar will be held Thursday, March 29, from 12:30-4:30 p.m., at the Hilton Waikoloa and is designed specifically for women. The clinic will give tips for the Lavaman Triathlon and general training in areas such as swimming safe and strong, good nutrition, hydration, energy management, equipment selection, pacing, mental preparation, and managing the heat.
