Jones will have staff in 2 weeks
Hawaii football coach June Jones said he plans to have the two open spots on his staff filled around the time spring practice starts, April 2.
"We won't have one done until next week and two weeks for the other," Jones said yesterday.
Dennis McKnight, a graduate assistant last year, is expected to fill one spot. Former UH defensive coordinator Greg McMackin came in for an interview over the weekend and is a top candidate for the other position.
McMackin and current defensive line coach Jeff Reinebold are possibilities to replace Jerry Glanville in running UH's defense. Glanville left to be head coach at Portland State. Mouse Davis also left the Warriors staff, to join Glanville as offensive coordinator, creating the second UH opening.
KGMB retains June Jones Show
KGMB (Ch. 9) has been awarded the rights to produce and telecast the 2007 "June Jones Television Show," Hawaii athletic director Herman Frazier announced yesterday.
The first of 16 shows will be telecast Friday, Aug. 1, at 9 p.m. It will be a one-hour kickoff special, previewing the 2007 season.
The weekly half-hour program will air each Sunday at 6:30 p.m. beginning Sept. 2 and conclude with a season wrap-up show Dec. 11. The show will be re-telecast each Monday at 6:30 p.m. for a total of 31 telecasts during the course of the season.
"KGMB9 did a wonderful job producing and promoting the June Jones TV Show last year and I'm sure the production quality and exposure value for the program will equal or exceed what they delivered in 2006," Frazier said.
The show will once again be hosted by sports director Liz Chun.
