U.S. soccer team to hold clinics
The U.S. Women's National Soccer Team Players' Association 2007 Hawaii Goodwill Champions Tour is on Oahu for appearances and youth clinics Thursday through Sunday.
Natasha Kai, the former Kahuku and Hawaii Wahine standout who is just back from the Algarve Cup in Portugal, is one of 15 players scheduled to appear.
The other players are Nancy Goffi-Augustyniak, Shannon Boxx, Jenni Branam, Lori Chalupny, Danielle Fotopoulos, Megan Kakadelas, Lori Lindsay, Heather Mitts, Siri Mullinix, Heather O'Reilly, Leslie Osbourne, Danielle Slaton, Lindsay Tarplay and Christie Welsh.
On Thursday, the players will be available for autographs during a 2-hour appearance from noon to 2 p.m. at Kakaako Park. Photos will be available while the supply lasts.
Friday, the players will demonstrate various skills with photo and autograph opportunities from 3 to 5 p.m. at the Waikiki Beach Walk's Courtyard on Lewers Street.
There will be live entertainment featuring Benny Kai and his Polynesian fire knife dancers. There also will be chances to win autographed merchandise.
On Saturday and Sunday, the players will offer a special eight-session Soccer Skills Clinic at the Waipio Peninsula Soccer Park from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m.
The clinic will expose players to individual ball skills. Scrimmage games organized by age groups (6-11 & 12-18 years old) will also be held.
An autograph session with photo opportunities will be held from 3 to 4 p.m. each day.
The clinic is free and open to soccer players of all skill levels from ages 6 to 18, with a 200-person limit per session. Registration is based on a first-come, first-served basis.

UH moves up 2 spots in volleyball poll
Hawaii moved from No. 14 to No. 12 in the AVCA Top 15 coaches poll yesterday after sweeping Cal State Northridge over the weekend.
The Warriors (5-13) are between No. 11 IPFW (12-5) and No. 13 Southern California (9-11).
Seasiders improve to 13-0
Yulia Ustyuzhanina, Dori Magas and Anna Anikanova each swept their opponents 6-0, 6-0, yesterday as the Brigham Young-Hawaii women's tennis team beat Albertson College 9-0.
The Seasiders improved to 13-0 for the season after winning each match in straight sets.
Toyama has Hawaii in contention
Hawaii's Travis Toyama shot a 142 over the last two days and is tied for 17th at the Western Intercollegiate golf tournament at Santa Cruz, Calif.
Toyama's Warriors are in fifth place after the first day, 12 shots behind first-place Purdue. Long Beach State's Brett Lederer leads the tournament, which concludes with a single round today, at 7-under par.
Moore earns Atlantic Sun honors
Tereva Moore, who played three years (2003-05) for Radford High before graduating from Hillcrest High (2006) in Memphis, Tenn., is on the Atlantic Sun Conference All-Freshman Team.
The guard/forward plays for the Belmont University Bruins who played in the NCAA women's tournament for the first time last Saturday and lost to Georgia Tech.
Ghazali gets America East honors
Jessica Ghazali (University '06), a freshman right-hander for the Maine Black Bears, has been named the America East Conference player and pitcher of the week for the week ending March 12.
Ghazali won her first five decisions and posted a 5-1 record during the week. In seven appearances, her earned run average was 3.86. She struck out 14 and walked four.
