Jeweler opens seventh isle store
Philip Rickard Honolulu has opened a seventh retail location and will celebrate the occasion with a grand opening tomorrow on the ground floor of the Royal Hawaiian Shopping Center, A108, between Island Snow and Le Sportsac.
The celebration will begin with a Hawaiian blessing at 9 a.m. followed by light snacks and coffee. All customers will receive a 10 percent discount on all purchases through 10 p.m. that day.
The jeweler specializes in Hawaiian heirloom jewelry, and the gallery will include all of Rickard's collections: Diamonds & Flowers, Black Pearl, Ali'i and a custom wedding line.
Fans of Rickard include pop star and fashion designer Gwen Stefani, who is often photographed wearing Philip Rickard originals.

Roughwater Swim seeks tee design

Designs for the event should feature a motif related to the ocean, swimming and/or Hawaii. Designs will measure 12 by 12 inches, to be centered on the back of the event's commemorative T-shirt, and include the phrase "38th Waikiki Roughwater Swim," with a smaller design or wording for the left-hand shirt front. Wording on the front may include the words "Sept. 3, 2007 / 38th Waikiki Roughwater Swim."
Send camera-ready art to Ted Sheppard, P.O. Box 2847, Wailuku, HI 96793; or e-mail tedsheppard@yahoo.com. The entry deadline is April 2. A cash prize of $300 will be awarded for the winning design.
